Performance Makeup is required for all dancers and optional for male dancers.
***Tiny Tot dancers are to explore blush, shadow, lips and glitter.
***Dancers ages 5 to 9 should try all of the following but apply with consideration of age. (Eyeliner and faux lashes are not necessary. )
***Dancers ages 8 and up are capble and old enough to apply all of the following. (Faux eye lashes optional)
***Dancers ages 13 and up are required to apply (or at least try :) ) to apply all of the following including faux eyelashes.
***Remember this is "Stage Makeup". In other words it should be applied heavier then normal everyday makeup in order to accentuate the dancers face on stage. Theatre lights are bright and easily 'wash out' facial expression and details. All dancers should stick to neutral colors. Browns, beiges, blacks, grays, silver and so on. Ask Cortney if you would like to work with another color. Lips should be natural, no bright pink or red lips please

Foundation even out skin color and creates a smoother, even texture, ‘pure canvas’ for make-up application.

Contouring and Hightlighting can add the isllusion of increased dimension to the face. Contour outlines or recesses facial features. Highlights “brings out” facial features.

Shade or fill brows to frame eyes evenly. (if necessary extend them)
Optional Step: Fake Eyelashes

Step 3/4: Eyeliner
Defines and emphasizes shape and size of eyes. There are many ways and designs that can be applied.
Step 3/4: Eyeshadow
Ofen the focal point for make-up design eyeshadow can contour for exaggerated effects, highlight, accentuate. Do not forget to blend and evaluate theme of design in relation to individual facial shapes.
Step 5: Mascara (now or step 8)
Defines, lengthens and thickens eyelashes.
Step 6: Blush
Primarly designed to add color to face and define cheek area. Apply in Cshape motion from temple to cheekbone.
***If applying a cream apply before powder; if applying a powder blush apply after powder.
Step: 7: Facial Powder
Important for setting other make up products so that they last longer and avoid fading and streaking. Also hides unwanted shine on face.
Step 8: Mascara
Defines, lengthens and thickens eyelashes.
Step 10: Lip Linner
Applied to outer edge of lips to define shape and prevent lipstick from bleeding onto skin
Step 11: Lip Color
Completes the balance of color

Step back and look at face as a whole. Check symmetry and balance as well as complimentary designs and colors.
