2013 Dance Team Information
Who:
· This year our goal is to create ONE Dance Team
· All Levels of Dancers are Welcome!!! New Dancers, Beginner Dancers, Intermediate and Advanced. We embrace all Levels!!!
· The Dance Team will consist of dancers ages 4th grade to 12th grade who the Dance Director sees as emotionally responsible to take on this huge commitment.
What:
All Team members are required to take...
· A minimum of two hours of technique each week
o OptionA: Ballet Conditioning & Jazz Conditioning
o OptionB: Ballet Conditioning & Modern Conditioning
o OptionC: Jazz Conditioning & a HipHop Class
· Required to attend two hours of Team Rehearsals each week plus extra rehearsals... (includes some Saturdays and Sundays)
o Days and Times TBA
· One Team… Different Levels and Ages:
o Alumni/Intermediate/Older Dancers will learn to be leaders and mentors to the Beginning/New/and Young Team Members
o Beginning/New/and Young Team Members will work with the Alumni/Intermediate/Older Dancers shadowing and learning team techniques
o All dancers will partake in learning choreo for the show in April (combined and/or divided by age and/or level)
o All team members are required to go to CAPHERD Palm Springs (each dancer is required to pay registration fees to Cortney by March 1st) where they will also perform!
o Team members are not guareenteed but should be prepared for any extra invitations Dancers Anonymous is given to perform at. (school assemblies, wyatts, local buissinesses, clubs, etc)
o EXTRA..... Some Team Members who are ready to compete will be put in competitive numbers... can vote on Competitions to attend!!!... NRG...SHARP... SHOWSTOPPERS (all will require travel and entry fees)

Why:
· ***First and above all, becoming a dancer, an athlete, part of a TEAM, surrounded by others who support, encourage, challenge and embrace your individual strengths and weaknesses will undoubtedly enrich each dancer’s life with priceless memories, confidence and mental and physical health that will remain with you for the rest of your life.
· ***If you want to consider the financial facts… By joining the Dance Team tuition for classes January thru June is $200 cheaper than if you were to take the same amount of classes thru Normal Tuition Rates.
How Much:
· By Joining the Dance Team, Tuition is only $250!!! This includes…
o Two Technique/Conditioning classes a week January thru April
o Two Team Reheasal a week January thru April (plus any extra rehearsals added in)
o Performance Fees including costume rental for Team routines
o Unlimited Spring Conditioning classes (team members should take a minimum of two a week but welcome to take more! J)
o Spring Rehearsals for extra performances like CAPHERD etc.
o Team Comp Rehearsals for those members choosen to compete in a large team number at Showstoppers.
Mentoring:
· Dancers who are part of the Dance Team and Interview and are accepted to be a Dance Mentor will be ASSIGNED to a mentor class (Read Mentor link), and receive one extra free class of their choosing. Note that being a part of the Dance Team and becoming a Dance Mentor, Dancers are then committing to a minimum of 6 hours of dance a week. Read Mentor link also
Extra Classes:
· Dancers on the Dance Team who may like to register for more classes then what is already stated as mandatory for Dance Team members may do so by enrolling for as many extra classes as they would like to for only $20 each. This includes class tuition and Performance Costume Rental Fees. (cheaper then normal tuition rates for non team members)
Extra Expenses:
· Being part of the Dance Team will require certain expected Dance apparel and Team apparel that will be purchased by each individual dancer on their own. Fundraising will most likely help all dancers help pay for Palm Springs …thus expect to purchase some if not all of the following items on your own. This list may expand or change but it is here to give you a general idea of what to expect. (note that these are items most dancers should have anyways ;) )

Ø Dance Bag (Purchased Thru Dance Director)
Ø CAPHERD Dance Convention (Purchased Thru Dance Director)(Travel Expenses are the individuals responsibility)
Ø ??? Showstoppers Dance Competition Anahiem Disneyland (Purchased Thru Dance Director)(Travel Expenses are the individuals responsibility)
Ø ??? Knott’s Berry Farm Cheer and Dance Team Competition (Purchased Thru Dance Director)(Travel Expenses are the individuals responsibility)
o ***Competiton: Dancers who Cortney feels are ready will be choosen to be in a rountine to take to compete at the Knott’s Berry Farm Cheer and Dance Team competition in March. Depending on enrollment we could possibly take two rountines? This/These routines could also be taken to Disneyland to compete at Showstoppers. Dancers on Team who are not first choosen will learn the routine(s) as ‘alternates’ incase of injury or sickness. Dancers who don’t compete Cortney would still like them to attend both Knotts and Disney for Team support. (KNOTT’S: $70 dancers, $50 viewer which includes theme park ticket and theatre entrance! J) (DISNEY: dancers $45, viewers $0, located at the Disneyland Hotel not in the theme park)

ØDance Team Uniform (TBA) Note: that Cortney is pushing for uniforms due to the possibility of partaking in Knott’s, CAPHERD, and Showstoppers. These uniforms could be purchased individulally or we could raise money together and Cortney would add them to our “Costume Closet” for dancer to rent.
You MUST Pre-Register by January 25th in order to be a part of TEAM.
