Join CREW … its FREE!!!
First off if you are 4th grade or older you may join and come to CREW for FREE as long as you are registered for one technique class (hip hop, jazz, ballet, tap) CREW offers you an awesome experience to learn routines surrounded by all kinds of dancers taking different styles of technique. It doesn't matter if you are a new/beginning dancer or intermediate/alumni dancer, everyone is welcome!!! Choreo that is taught in CREW varies in style. Sometimes some numbers taught in CREW are auditioned but nevertheless everyone in CREW is introduced to new choreo to be a part of!!!
Note: learning different styles in CREW you may be asked to purchase items like shoes that are required for that style (i.e. character, jazz, modern, hip hop) Furthermore notice that CREW is a free class for dancers to come and learn choreography, it is NOT a class where technique is taught. Therefore some styles may be fun to learn but dancers may not be blocked into the numbers if they can’t pick up the choreography.
***Dancers in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade needs a guardian to approve them being in CREW face to face with Cortney ;)
***If you want to audition your own student choreography you need to participate in CREW. Read below for more info...
Interested in Choreographing??? Info Below...?
If you are interested in choreography you have two options!!!
First: If you would like to teach your own choreography during the CREW class you must talk to; work with; discuss; and audition your choreo with the Dance Director Cortney.
***Routines can be of any style of dance; 1 minute in length once finished; (I might extend time depending on audition and how well choreo is picked up in class) must contain beginning technique so that all CREW members can participate ( you may include harder parts that can be auditioned as well). Music must be fully edited.
***Most important... if you want to teach you must audition a minimum of 30seconds of choreo February 9th. TEXT Cortney if you have questions. Audition days and times are on 2014 Calendar Link.
Second: If you are interested in choreographing a number for yourself or with others to audition to be a part of our show in May you must attend and participate in a CREW. Auditions are already on the calendar February 8th. You may audition solos, duets, trios and group of any style.
Choreo can be any style; may include other CREW members, music MUST be clean and edited. You may audition as many pieces as you like.
Student Auditioned Choreo: NEW: Solos can be NO longer then exactly 1minute. Duets and Trio can be NO longer then exactly 1:30. Group pieces with four or more dancers can be NO longer then exactly 2minutes. Check the calendar for audition times and dates.
NOTE: each year Cortney selects numbers choreographed by students with this in mind... Technique, Memorization, Fluidness of steps, Synchronization, Presentation, Creativeness, Growth, Use of Music and style, and more. Overall each number is in truth competing against the other student choreographed numbers due to the limited space available in the show. No matter how many numbers are auditioned approx. 0-? will be chosen. I encourage all CREW members to experiment with their own choreography. This is an awesome learning experience to create and audition something of your own, and should not be treated as a contest. I look forward to seeing you all audition for your own personal growth.
